Gethen: Winter

Started Painting a few of the ideas
that were floating around in my head.
These look more promising than the
other study, but I still have a few weeks
to really develop this. None of these
are finished, just colored scribbles.

  1. I really like these. They're intriguing. Does each one have a story behind it?

    1. Thanks, It's our current project where we read a book and illustrate it. It's a planet in the middle of it's ice age from a book called The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K Le Guin.

The first image is an idea of entombing the dead kings and queens in glacier walls.

The second is a monastery which i have a lot to develop.

The third is an when one of the main characters gets banished from the city for treason and anyone who talks to him will be killed.

The fourth is just an idea for a second, much warmer city.

There is still a lot to do, before the project is done, fortunately I have the time to also really develop each city and a few of the characters.

    2. The entombing idea makes that particular illustration way more eerie and imaginative! Will you be posting the updated versions of these when you complete them? And will the finished project be a series of illustrations like these?

    3. The project has about 3 weeks left so I should be posting them soon, and they should be just like this.
