Barrons and pokemon

I combined a few pieces for Barron's
class from these to make a spread for
a magazine. The title of the magazine
is Holy Hell Hotel. I posted a quick
animated gif of my process for the last
piece which I'm hoping might make it
as a cover. If nothing else I just like
how it came out. There is an animated
gif also of my process so far on the
pokemon piece. Should be done
hopefully tonight.

The Prodigal Post

It's been an extremely long time since my last post.
A lot of my work has either been stuff I didn't like,
or stuff I couldn't post (non disclosure agreement)
but I've gotten a little bit more time recently to work
on a few characters and other things. I continued
some work from the wishing well project and I'm
starting to make cover pages for parts of my portfolio.
they start out like the thumbnail below.

and then hopefully end up something like this one.

I'll post some of my Barron homework soon.
I'm also working on a piece for the Rare Candy
Gallery at the Umpqua Bank that opens May 3rd.
You should check it out if you get the chance!

Crew of You and Some More Too

I started with a few thumbnails. I tried to get a small idea
down that made sense to me. and then I refined it a little.

I then printed it out on multiple 11x17s and then taped them
together and put a 5 foot wide piece of butcher paper on top.

I traced and drew bits and pieces, and then I mounted it
on some illustration board and am now painting it.

I'm currently in the middle of remembering how
to paint traditionally. It's weird seeing how my
traditional style bled into my digital style, and
then how I changed with digital and that now
influences how I paint traditionally.

Other than that here are a few sketchbook doodles.
I'm starting to get back into that too. I forgot how
fun art can be when you just doing things for you.

quick update

starting a new project and working with different styles.
We're switching a lot. More cartoony, more viking, and
less of a fat wife with a unicorn face mask.

I'm also taking a class where we are trying to collage pieces
together, so I thought I'd give it a shot before we actually get
to the final. I never thought about collaging artwork before but
it's so much fun!
